Daily Prompt #JusJoJan Jan 13: Reversal

For kicks and giggles the other day, I did a couple of quick social media games. One game was: The song that was number one on your 23rd birthday is how 2023 will go for you.

The BeeGees’ Staying’ Alive was a No. 1 song on my 23rd birthday. Well…

The other little game I did was to find my personal Tarot card (Major Arcana) for 2023. Here are the instructions for calculating your personal Tarot card. My number is 12. The 12th card in the Major Arcana is ‘The Hanged Man’.

The Hanged Man XII – Rider-Waite Tarot deck – Wikipedia

Since I know my way around a deck of Tarot cards, getting The Hanged Man didn’t bother me in the least.

Briefly, when upright, it’s a card about consequences of choices and making right choices. I can internalize this by realizing I had spent two and half years – almost 24/7 – taking care of a terminally ill family member, during which time I’d neglected my own health and mental well-being. I’d also stopped writing, because I lacked the energy, mentally and physically, to do much of anything for myself. The Hanged Man cautions me that during 2023, I have to allow myself time to recuperate, or I’ll pay the consequences for continuing to neglect myself.

Where does the daily prompt reversal fit into this?

The reversal of an upright Hanged Man is all about inner discontentment, impulsivity, going from a bad (self-neglect) situation into a worse one (major health issue), avoidance and denial of taking self-responsibility, and unwillingness to self-assess and change for your own good.

I’m encouraged that I’m in upright Hanged Man status, and not in the reversal.

Pair the Hanged Man (upright) with my ‘song’ for 2023, Stayin’ Alive, it’s in my best interests to put taking care of myself this year at the top of my To Do list.

Thanks to Linda G. Hill and Sadje for today’s #JusJoJan prompt.
