Optimism isn’t a strong personality attribute for me.
I’m a pessimistic realist with an unhealthy dose of existential dread thrown in for good measure.
Optimism is something I have to consciously nurture, since the pessimistic realist side of my personality is considerably stronger and entrenched in my psyche. But I have a delightfully dark and well-developed sense of humor, and I’m not above ruthlessly poking fun at myself for my gloom and despair outlook.
This song from the old Hee Haw variety tv show tickles me in that regard.
