Bee’s Feb. 8th musical prompt is to share a love song from a new artist.
I have no clue whatsoever what is new in any music genre or who the emerging artists are. I don’t watch the Grammys or Tonys. I listen to ‘old’ music: classic country, classical, opera in moderation, rock, 50s, 60s. Occasionally I stumble upon newish Broadway songs that I enjoy: Hamilton, Six, Hadestown. I probably could have investigated new music and artists in the Broadway genre, but I didn’t.
I’ve recently rewatched the dvd movie of La Boheme (Rolando Villazon and Anna Netrebko version), so opera came to mind as a good place to discover a ‘who’s new in opera’ artist. In my interesting tumble down rabbit holes of operatic websites and YouTube videos, I discovered Patricia Janečková.
After a bit of Internet stalking | social media perusing, I discovered that Ms. Janečková is a recent cancer survivor. She took a career hiatus during her cancer treatment, but she is apparently cancer-free and performing again. I am looking forward to following her rising-star career now that I’ve discovered her.
While this video isn’t a song from an opera, Ms. Janečková sings Christine Daae’s love song Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera. Sublime. Simply sublime.
Until next time,

Gosh, but I got behind on reading comments. Oops. She does have a lovely, rich voice. I hope her career takes off.
That is a brilliant choice. Thanks for introducing us to her 😍
