Love is in Da Blog – Feb 14: Sway – Dean Martin #LoIsInDaBl23

The musical prompt for today – Valentine’s Day – is specifically not a Valentine’s Love Song. 😉

I possess a long-enduring crush on Dean Martin—his movies and his singing. His rendition of the song Sway aka ¿Quién será? is a bolero-mambo or Argentine tango depending upon the source. I’m not a connoisseur of ballroom dances, so I don’t know one way or the other. I just like the song.

Sway isn’t Valentine’s Day related per se, but it is a sensuous-sexy song in lyrics, rhythm, tune, and Dean’s smooth voice.

This movie clip is from the Colin Firth / Jessica Biel 2008 movie Easy Virtue. Dean Martin sings Sway over their dancing, but Sway is NOT the song they are dancing to in the movie. That song is an Argentine tango performed by the Easy Virtue Orchestra (look on YouTube: “Easy Virtue Tango”. The actual movie music for this scene is *almost* as perfect as this Dean Martin version.

Pardon me while I swoon…

For another nice musical renditon over this dance scene, look on YouTube for “Por una Cabeza – Carlos Gardel”.

  1. I’ve always thought this is one of the sexiest songs ever recorded. Cool that someone put it over the Easy Virtue dance scene.
