Love is in Da Blog – Feb 23: Nitty Gritty Dirt Band #LoIsInDaBl23

The Feb. 23rd prompt is a love song for flora and fauna.

In this light-hearted folksy-country tune by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band called Fishin’ in the Dark, we’ve got night fishing, a river, counting the stars, lying in the tall cool grass under a full moon, swimming in the river (skinny dipping?), and falling in love. All-in-all, the song is a delightful tribute to being outdoors enjoying the natural gifts of flora and fauna.

Do fish qualify as fauna? Hmmm

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s version of Fishin’ in the Dark was released in June 1987. The song reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs and Canadian RPM Hot Country Tracks.

Until next time,
